Adventures in Cooking

If learning how to cook were as simple as following recipes, I'd have my own Food network show by now.

This weekend, one of the boy's friends is dropping by to teach me how to make some authentic Indian and Pakistani dishes. Then later in the afternoon, more of his friends are dropping by to eat all the food. Hmmm.

Yesterday, I made some samosas (fried pastry with spicy potato, onion, pea and other vegetable stuffing). Now that I've begun my internship in the kitchen, here's the first in a series of upcoming cooking tips: wear appropriate clothing when deep frying.

Negotiation

Today, I decided to call some companies and harass them for a change. Here are my results:

1. Credit card company: There's a little song and dance we go through to get the interest rate lowered. Last time I called, they lowered my rate from $15% to 9.95%. Now it's at 0%. Excellent! And they raised my limit without asking. Hmm. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

2. TiVo: I initially called to cancel because we have the Comcast DVR (which I don't really like but it's cheaper than TiVo) and after being transfered multiple times, I finally got to an "authorized party". Long story short (this took about 15 minutes with all the transfers and holds), TiVo offered to lower my monthy rate from $13.95 ish to $6.95 forevah! Sweet. I'll take that deal.

And then I paid off a bunch of medical bills. Small triumphs obliterated!

How Many Boys Does A Boy Band Need...

If a boy band could band boys?

Sometimes, I wonder what my taste in men would be like if I had been raised in Korea instead of Canada.

Would I still find boys with piercing blue eyes and light brown hair attractive or would I go screaming nuts over guys like this:

I found about the world's largest boy band (Super Junior - 13 members!) in the archives of Daily Kimchi.

The song is in both Korean and English but I have to tell you, I honestly can't tell what language it is half the time.

As for my earlier comment about tastes... I like the one in the video that's a little girlie looking.

I guess somethings never change - no matter where you're raised. *winks at Fizzienub*

Halfway Done

I just realized we're now into the 2nd half of 2007. Days and months just seem to zoom by as we get older.

How am I doing on my 2007 resolutions? How are you doing?

1. Run 5 miles without stopping! Update: Errr. This hasn't happened yet. Not allowed to run while my jaw heals and the bone fuses back to my skull. I still plan on doing this by the end of the year!

2. Buy a whole new wardrobe. Update: I'm crossing this off my list.

3. Be more organized. Update: I recently went through about 5 months worth of unopened bills and paperwork and found $5k in checks we hadn't cashed! Yay for being more organized.

4. Be more patient and NOT sweat the small stuff. Update: This is a work in progress.

5. Eat healthy. Update: I'm cooking for both myself and Fizzienub and we have drastically changed our eating habits... except for the Voodoo run last night. Yup.

6. Travel outside of North America. Update: I'm crossing this one off my list as well.
